Linux • Re: Farewell Livecode...?

To resurrect a thread, I can confirm that a paid for LiveCode Professional 10.0 install still doesn't run on Arch Linux, it stalls at the same -E warning regardless of whether you choose All Users, Only Me or Custom. Nothing is missing from the system as all other applications run, Steam runs, Edge runs, VMware Workstation 17 runs, Putty and KeePassXC also work just fine.

It's only LiveCode and now its a paid for license, so perhaps that should involve some kind of support. Ideally, any version of LiveCode should be distributed as some kind of archive, most commonly would be TAR.XZ or TAR.GZ. There is an argument to be made that it is not user friendly but Linux in general isn't user friendly, if you are using Linux it is implied you already know how to extract an archive, put the contents in a folder, set the execute permission and be on your way.
